Anticipating
a layoff from Allied Signal, Rick Krska began researching possible business
ideas in his spare time. Re-manufacturing toner cartridges seemed to have
potential and Krska began operating out of his basement. When the layoff
came, Krska was able to hit the ground running and his business began
to grow. Within 3 years, LaserCycle had become one of the ten largest
re-manufacturers in the country in an industry of over 9,000 competitors.
"The
bank I started with went through a merger so I had several account officer
changes," recalls Krska."The officer I ended up with didn't
seem interested in my business and when it came time to ask for an increase
in our line of credit, I was uncertain they would support us."
"I
was introduced to Missouri Bank and after meeting with them, I knew I
had found a good fit. A small business themselves, Missouri Bank seemed
to understand the challenges I faced as my company experienced rapid and
dynamic growth. They even introduced me to other customers who were facing
the same challenges."
Missouri
Bank is proactive in referring customers to one another, either for products,
services or for business advice. "Not long after I started with the
bank," says Krska, "they introduced me to a company also experiencing
rapid growth. The owner and I became good friends and benefited from each
other's experience. Now we serve on one another's advisory boards."
Missouri
Bank tends to attract companies that place a high value on quality and
service. As a result, our customers have a lot in common. Although they
may operate in unrelated industries, as small businesses they face similar
challenges. We bring our customers together so they can learn from one
another's experience.
Today
LaserCycle is the largest toner and ink cartridge re-manufacturer in Kansas
City with a client list of several thousand active companies and a resume
of numerous industry awards and recognition. "Missouri Bank has been
a huge resource to us," says Krska, "they are what a bank should
be."
